A four-run bottom of the first set the tone for Northfield in a 6-2 win over Prior Lake at Memorial Park Tuesday evening in Dundas.
Post 84 (9-5) was aided by a three-run home run from Hunter Koep in the first inning. Prior Lake (4-2) had won four straight to open its season before losing 9-6 to Waconia last Friday night.
“This is one of the top teams in our league and they got off to a quick start,” Northfield head coach Chris Graupmann said. “Our bats got going and I am happy for Ross to go out there and throw a complete game.”
Prior Lake jumped out to a 1-0 lead in the top of the first but it didn't last long.
Ross Beumer got the start for Post 84 and threw the full seven innings, allowing two runs on five hits with two strikeouts.
