Springfield Grabs Lead In Sixth Inning For Victory Over BOLD
Springfield took the lead late and defeated BOLD 5-3 on Friday. The game was tied at three with Springfield batting in the bottom of the sixth when Decker Scheffler singled off of Hayden Tersteeg, driving in one run.
BOLD captured the lead in the first inning. BOLD scored one run when Jack Peppel singled with one out in the first inning. After BOLD scored two runs in the top of the third, Springfield answered with two of their own. BOLD scored when James Woelfel singled off of Jevan Richert, driving in two runs. Springfield then answered when Mitchell Leonard singled off of Reed Stadther, driving in one run and Ivan Hovland singled off of Stadther, driving in one run.
Springfield knotted the game up at three in the bottom of the fifth inning. An error scored one run for Springfield.
Richert earned the win for Springfield. He pitched seven innings, giving up three runs, ten hits, striking out three, and walking zero. Hayden Tersteeg took the loss for BOLD. He went one and one-third innings, allowing two runs, two hits, striking out one, and walking zero.
Stadther started the game for BOLD. He tossed four and two-thirds innings, surrendering three runs, 11 hits, and striking out one.
Springfield collected 13 hits. Brandon Flock, Richert, Decker Scheffler, and Hunter Mathiowetz each collected multiple hits for Springfield. Hovland, Leonard, and Scheffler each drove in one run to lead Springfield. Springfield tore up the base paths, as two players stole at least two bases. Richert led the way with two.
BOLD had ten hits in the game. Luke Ryan, Max Buchtel, and Woelfel each collected multiple hits for BOLD.
