Spicer, MN - Proctor's Cole Johnson doubled home the game winning run in the top half of the seventh inning to help them earn a spot in the Minnesota American Legion Division II State Tournament with a 2-1 win over Springfield Saturday night.
The game featured strong pitching on both sides. Proctor's Matt Tracey struck out two and worked a complete game and earning the win. Springfield sat down 12 Proctor batters via the strike out as pitchers Brandon Flock (9 k's) and Tanner Vogel (3 k's) combined for the seven inning effort.
Tracey threw just 73 pitches in the win while allowing 4 hits and just one run. His counterpart Flock pitched in the the sixth inning working 5/23 allowing just 3 hits.
Mason Rummel, Hunter Mathiowetz, Decker Scheffler, and Jevan Richert all had one hit to lead Springfield while Cole Johnson led Proctor with two hits in four at bats.
Both teams will be in action tomorrow with Springfield facing Caledonia in the third place game at 11:00am. Proctor and Pierz will play immediately following the third place game at 1:30pm in Spicer with the winner advancing to the Regional playoffs.
