Richfield, MN - The Eastview Thunder Post 1776 plated four runs in the second inning to propel them to a 7-1 victory over St. MIchael Post 567 Golds on Thursday afternoon at Richfield High School.
Kathan Decker, Cullen Buck, and Nick Nelson drove in the runs in the inning and combined to go 5-9 with 5 RBI and 3 runs scored. Singles by Decker and Buck were followed by a sacrifice fly by Nelson in the big inning.
A double by Buck in the first inning opened the scoring for Eastview. Ryan Fering picked up the win on the mound for Eastview going four innings. He surrendered one run on four hits while striking out three Golds batters. Zach Kadlec come on in relief and pitched three scoreless inning out of the bullpen.
Paxton Thompson got the start for St. Michael and was penned with the loss. He allowed seven runs in three innings and allowed seven hits with one strikeout.
Eastview had nine hits in the game while Buck (3-4), Decker (2-3), and Zach Selchow (2-3) had multiple hit efforts.
Eastview will play the winner of Wayzata and Coon Rapids at 6pm in Richfield today while St. Michael will play the loser of Wayzata and Coon Rapids at 3:30pm this afternoon.
