Martina McBride, a country artist who has received more than 15 major music awards, will be the headliner for the concert portion of the seventh annual 7th Inning Stretch Festival on Saturday, Aug. 10, in Shelby, N.C.
The event will kick off the 2019 American Legion World Series (ALWS).
Active in the music industry since 1988, McBride has garnered six No. 1 hits and 20 Top 10 singles, selling more than 18 million albums to date. She has earned 14 Gold, nine Platinum, three Double Platinum and two Triple Platinum Certifications. McBride has four awards from the Country Music Association and three Female Vocalist of the Year awards from the Academy of Country Music. She has been nominated for a Grammy multiple times.
Updated World Series Logo
The American Legion and Cleveland County (N.C.) ALWS Baseball, Inc., released the new logo for the American Legion World Series (ALWS).
The new logo features elements of both the previous American Legion World Series marker from 1987 and the local World Series logo, which debuted when Shelby became the permanent host in 2012.
“This design and The American Legion trademark provides uniformity so any and all will know this is the American Legion World Series,” said Gaither M. Keener Jr., a member of the Advisory Committee to the National Commander of The American Legion and the Executive Committee of Cleveland County ALWS Baseball, Inc. “We will use this logo in conjunction with the regional logos to indicate that the regional winners will be playing in the ALWS.”
The 2019 American Legion World Series takes place Aug. 15-20. Two teams from Minnesota will qualify for the Central Plains Regional, which takes place in Dicksonson, North Dakota starting August 6, 2019. The Central Plains Regional consists of (IA, MN, ND, NE, SD)
The American Legion Baseball World Series takes place August 15-20 in Shelby North Carolina.
